shea & joseph: married [part 1]

The day before the wedding Shea posted on Joseph’s facebook wall: “you + me = married tomorrow.  cannot flippin’ wait”

Does it get more adorable than that?

I’d been looking forward to this wedding for nearly the entire year.  For so many reasons.  Because at their engagement session, I saw how obvious their love was for each other and how much fun that is to photograph.  Because they were getting married in my home town, at the church I went to through high school.  Because Shea’s family is incredible.  And because they were getting married on New Years Eve!

And so… the day finally arrived.  A beautiful, 40 degree & sunny, December day without a flake of snow on the ground [huh?].

I’ve never seen a dress quite like Shea’s.  When I walked into the bridal room, it took my breath away.  Stunning and elegant and totally perfect for a winter wedding.  Oh, and her silver sparkly heels proved she was ready to ring in the new year!

This dress was made for Shea.

How cute is Shea’s vintage-style veil?

Then it was time for Shea & Joseph’s first look.

This was, truthfully, the most touching & emotional first look I’ve ever witnessed.  Joseph burst into tears as he saw Shea… it was so sweet.

Reflecting back on the day, I can easily say this was my absolute favorite moment.

Just beautiful. Such a stunning couple.

After the first look & a few photos, we returned to the church to prepare for the ceremony.  Shea joined her mom & sisters for a quick prayer before walking down the aisle.

And then it was finally time to walk down the aisle!

St Mary’s does such a spectacular job with their holiday decor… the lit trees & poinsettias around the altar were brilliant!

If you thought their first look was adorable, you’re going to love this next series of photos!  In the few seconds of privacy after leaving the church, their smiles lit up the room!

Don’t forget to come back for Part 2 of Shea & Joseph’s wedding– featuring a seriously fun wedding party, their ‘night on the town’ & a countdown/balloon drop for the New Year!
